As many readers of the site will be aware, the majority of my work concentrates on material from the widows’ and dependent pension files of Irish Civil War soldiers held in the National Archives, Washington D.C. This was also the source material on which my new book The Forgotten Irish: Irish Emigrant Experiences in America is based. I am delighted to announce that the National Archives have kindly offered to host a launch for my book in the United States, which will take place on 16th March next. The event will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater between 7.00 and 8.30 pm EST, and will consist of a discussion on the files (which you will also be able to view live via YouTube here) followed by a book signing. The launch comes ahead of the general release of the book in America next May. I hope some of my U.S. readers will be available to come along- the event itself is free to all, and if you are interested you can reserve a seat by clicking here. Please feel free to share news of the evening with anyone you think may be interested. My sincere thanks to the National Archives for making this event possible, and I hope to see some of you there!
