The National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, Dublin will be holding a day of events on 16th April to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil War. Professor Thomas Bartlett of the University of Aberdeen will discuss ‘Ireland and the American Civil War’, while Dr. Patrick Geoghegan of Trinity College, Dublin and Newstalk’s Talking History will present a lecture entitled ‘The Lost Cause: Irish Military Experience in the War and After’. Good friend of this site and author of the excellent Myles Keogh: Three Wars; Two Continents; One Irish Soldier page, Robert Doyle, will be talking about Myles Walter Keogh’s experience during the Civil War. Dr. Una Ni Bhroimeil of the Department of History in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick will chair a question and answer session following the lectures.
