Irish in the American Civil War

Hello and welcome to this new blog dedicated to exploring Irish involvement in the American Civil War. Although the Irish aspect to the conflict is widely recognised in the United States, it is surprisingly little studied in Ireland itself. This blog is intended to discuss different aspects of the American Civil War from an Irish perspective, both North and South, and bring together people with an interest in the topic. I hope you enjoy it!

Many thanks Patricia! By the way I recently bought Chicago’s Irish Legion, which is an absolutely fantastic regimental history- it is nice to see some of the Union Irish in the west getting some attention!
